La funivia

Cable cars are an essential means of transportation in mountain regions for residents and commuters, tourists and daytrippers, and hikers and skiers.

In Trento, the cable car is part of
the local transportation system and residents in the town above can make the 400 meter trip in a few minutes, avoiding a thirty minute bus ride. Spectacular views make cablecars attractive to tourists and, often, as in Molveno and Andalo, offer a way to get to the various inns, hotels and rifugi above. Hikers can reach longer, more challenging trails in pristine nature, with the possiblity of reaching a mountain peak within a day. Skiers can reach snow covered mountains for almost, if not all, year-round skiing.

Tip: Be sure to check schedules before riding to avoid an extended stay on the mountain top and to be sure the cable cars are running. Schedules may be reduced or suspended during the off-season and may change temporarily due to high winds or bad weather.
